1. "Some books are to be tested , others to be swallowed ,and some few to be chewed and digested ." --- Where is the line taken from ? Explain the analogy. 

Or, What did Bacon tell about books and how different books should be read in his essay 'Of Studies' ?

Ans:- According to importance of content and the manner of reading , Becon has categorized books into few categories .

In the first category , According to him some books are to be tested. We have to read fully and enjoyed it's  flavour.

In the second  category , According to him some books are to be swallowed or we have to read quickly. 

In the third category , According to him  some books  to be chewed and digested or we have to read seriously with proper attention .

Becon said ,  we can read some books partially . Some books also may be read by deputy, and extracts made of them by others; but that would be only in the less important arguments  like common distilled waters, flashy things etc. 

2. What are the benefit of study ? What are its disadvantages ?

What is the use of studies ,as propageted by Bacon in his 'Off Studies'?

Ans:- According to Bacon , studies have some advantages . Firstly, Studies gives us delight. In our free time when we read book it give us enjoyment. Secondly, studies give us ornament. It develops our speaking ability in our daily life. Thirdly , Studies develop our judgment capacity . We can judge difficult matters or issues very easily . For expert men can execute, and perhaps judge of particulars, one by one. 

studies have some dis- advantages . According to Bacon to spend too much time in studies is sloth. The knowledge of reading is good but too much use of this knowledge in practical life is very bad. Because the knowledge of reading becomes perfect by real experiences.

How do history , poetry, mathematics , philosophy , logic help to make  a man sound and complete ?

Ans:- In the prose "Of Studies" Bacon mentioned verious subjects and their advantages in our real life. According to him reading creats a man's character. Different fields of study develop different qualities of a man. Like,  History makes a man wise.poetry develops our imagination capacity and develop our crieativity. Mathematics  sharpens our analytical skills. natural philosophy develops our deep understanding capacity .  Philosophy gives us logical  and rhetoric power to judge everything .
