B.Answer the following questions :- (6Marks)

1. Analyse Alice's curiosity and its role in her decision to follow the White Rabbit ?

Or,

What was special about the white Rabbit ? Why did Alice follow the white Rabbit ?

Or,

''She ran across the field after it.'' --- Who ran after and whom ? What motivates her to follow it ? What does the action reveal her character?

Or,

Comment on the elements of curiosity and confusion in ‘Down the Rabbit-Hole”.

Ans:- Alice,  a little girl ran after a white Rabbit across the field in the story ' Down the Rabbit Hole'.

Alice  was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank when she saw  a white rabbit with pink eyes ran close by her. At this moment  she thought that there was nothing so very remarkable in that. But later she saw that the rabbit had a watch in its waistcoat pocket. He also heared it saying "Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be too late!" She became curious and  started to ran after it. She ran across the field after it and was just in time to see it pop down a large rabbit-hole under the hedge. Alice's action shows that she is a curious and adventurous girl. She is not afraid to take risk and explore new things.

2. '' The Rabbit hole went straight on like a tunnel. '' --- Who went to the Rabbit hole ? How did she fall there ? Describe the Rabbit hole. Where did she finally reached ?

Or, How did Alice reach the hall after the fall was over ? Where did she reach ?

Ans:- Alice,  a little girl in the story ' Down to the Rabbit Hole' went to the rabbit hole.

The rabbit-hole went straight on like a tunnel and  Alice had not a moment to think about stopping herself before she found herself falling down. The well was very deep and so dark that Alice could not see anything into the well. When she looked at the sides of the well, she  noticed that they were filled with cupboards and bookshelves: here and there she saw maps and pictures hung upon pegs.

Alice finally fall down  upon a heap of sticks and dry leaves. Then he reached a long low hall that was lit up by a row of lamps hanging from the roof.

3.  How did Alice feel when she saw the beautiful garden through the little door?

Or,

What did Alice see in the Hall after landing ?

Or,

'' Alice had begun to think that very little things inded were really impossible.'' --- When had Alice begun to think so ?

Or, '' Oh, how I wish I could shut up like a telescope ! '' --- What did Allice find behind the curtain ? Why did Alice think so ?

Ans:-After  falling  down  upon a heap of sticks and dry leaves Alice reached a long low hall that was lit up by a row of lamps hanging from the roof. There were doors all round the hall, but they were all locked. Suddenly she came upon a little three-legged table, all made of solid glass. There she found a  tiny golden key. She tried to open the doors with the key but the key was too small to open the door. Finally she could open a little door with the key and saw a loveliest garden she had ever seen. She wished to go to the garden of beds of bright flowers and fountains, but she could not even get her head though the doorway. She had begun to think that very few things inded were really impossible and there were a chance she might actually fold up like a telescope. So she returned to the table hopping to find another key or rule book on how to fold people like telescope.

4. What did Alice think before drinking the contents of the bottle ? How did the drink of the bottle affected the bottlle after it ?

Or,

''No I will look first. '' --- Who is the speaker ? What will she look first and why ?

Answer:-  Alice is the speaker here in the story 'Down the Rabbit Hole ' .

When Alice returned to the table hopping to find another key or rule book on how to fold people like telescope. She found a litlle bottle on the table marked 'Drink Me ' . But the wise little Alice was not going to do that in a hurry. She decided to look first whether it's marked 'poison' or not. She had read several nice little stories about children who had got burnt, and eaten up by wild beasts, and other unpleasant things, all because they would not remember the simple rules their friends had taught them, such as, that a redhot poker will burn you if you hold it too long,  and that if you cut your finger very deeply with a knife, it usually bleeds; and she had never forgotten that, if you drink much from a bottle marked "poison," it is almost certain to disagree with you, sooner or later. However, this bottle was not marked "poison and she drunk it. It had tested  a sort of mixed flavour of cherry-tart, custard, pine-apple, roast turke etc.

After drunk it  she became  only ten inches high, and her face brightened up at the thought that she was now the right size for going through the little door into that lovely garden. First, however, she waited for a few minutes to see if she was going to shrink any further.
